Hands-On Assignment 2

    I define media and social networking as a means of communicating and meeting new people. Media I believe is the platform one would use to then go and social network with others. For example, many people used LinkedIn as a platform for connecting with other employees, and employers, and finding potential jobs that match their skills and work experience. The only social networking site I use is LinkedIn and I use it to find new jobs in the area. I also use it as a central point where I can put my certifications, work experience, and schooling all in one area for reference. I use LinkedIn very rarely as I turn off notifications and only go on when I am looking to see what is on the feed every once in a while. I do not communicate with anybody on this platform as I don't see it as a social platform but more of a professional platform for job hunting and recruiting. 

    My use of social media is extremely limited as stated before. I only have LinkedIn as I believe all the other social media platforms wasted too much of my time and I see instant gratification and self-confidence issues that like to accompany social media. While this might not affect everyone, it does affect the majority including me when I did have the apps. Now that I no longer have social media, I have found it more relaxing and I have found myself with more time and this time has allowed me to pursue things more for my personal benefit.

     After reading parts of this book by John Cheney, it is clear that there is data collection in every aspect of our lives. The title quite literally says it all; we are data, and we are the ever-increasing information that is gathered and analyzed to create more automated systems in our society.  This chapter spoke to me mainly in the business aspect of how social media can be helpful. Social Media can be an excellent way to advertise and market in today's society as it is the easiest way to reach more people. This is good for advertising and now with the marketing and data analytics many social media sites have; it makes it much easier to provide valuable statistics on bettering your marketing campaigns. you can get an average age, sex, location, and more on your results and this can show what demographic your products or services reach the most. This has convinced me to utilize social media more in creating advertising campaigns for my business "Suncoast Yacht Management" in which I use Facebook and Instagram for marketing and information. Assignment 3

Social Media of choice: Facebook      I will start off first by saying that I started this class with no social media whatsoever. However, I have recently installed Facebook and Instagram for business and marketing purposes and this has been perfect timing for this assignment. I chose Facebook which is the social media I use the most for my business because it has a new feature called the "Meta Business Suite" which allows me to post simultaneously on Facebook and Instagram, all in one place. This also allows me to see demographics like what platform reaches what people and how many followers I have on both and which has seen the most audience improvement.
